Men's Swimming & Diving Welcomes 14 Into Fold In Class of 2016

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell men's swimming and diving team welcome 14 players to the program as part of the Class of 2016 it was announced today by head coach Joe Lucia. The group will be part of the Big Red's move up the Ivy standings.

Below are bios on the newcomers.

Taylor Adams
Fr. * Free * Wayne, N.J. / Wayne Hills HS
Adams was named all-county a total of 12 times in his four varsity seasons and graduates as a seven-time school record holder at Wayne Hills HS. He was a junior nationals and U.S. Open qualifier in the 100 free while swimming for the Wyckoff YMCA Sharks. Adams set five individual club records and is part of nine relay records. A scholastic All-American, Adams was ranked first in the state in the 100 free (long course).

Jack Bremer
Fr. * Fly/IM * Severna Park, Md. / Severn School
Bremer was a four-time all-conference and all-county selection at Severn School, earning Annapolis Capital-Gazette Swimmer of the Year as a senior. He was a four-year letter winner while swimming both the butterfly and IM. While swimming club for the Severna Park YMCA, Bremer was a 12-time Maryland state champion and was Maryland Swimmer of the Year. He served as team captain and was a three-time USA Swimming scholastic All-American.

Avery Bub
Fr. * Breast/IM * The Woodlands, Texas / The Woodlands HS
Bub was an NISCA All-American in 2011-12 in the 200 IM and as part of a relay squad at The Woodlands HS. A two-year all-state honoree, he served as team captain in each of his final two seasons. While swimming club for The Woodlands Swim Team, he was a USA Swimming southern zone select team member for one year and a two-time scholastic All-American. Bub was a junior nationals and nationals qualifier.

Zac Cesaro
Fr. * Free/Back * Avon, Conn. / Avon HS
Cesaro was a four-time all-conference pick in swimming and diving and set six school records at Avon HS. He was a three-time team most valuable performer and set Avon records in the 50, 100 and 200 free, the 100 back and as part of both the 200 medley and 400 free relays. Cesaro performed for the Wheeler Regional YMCA Tigersharks club and was a multiple year competitor at the New England YMCA meet.  A 2011 and 2012 YMCA Short Course participant, he was team captain as a senior. Cesaro also played four seasons of soccer.

Matthew Dutton
Fr. * Fly/Back * Miller Place, N.Y. / Rocky Point HS
Dutton was a state champion swimmer in the 100 fly at Rocky Point HS. He earned all-state accolades and was considered for All-America status, while capturing Scholastic All-America honors.

Blas Garcia-Canga
Fr. * Breast/Free * Champaign, Ill. / Champaign Centennial HS
Garcia-Canga was a state qualifier in both swimming and cross country at Champaign Centennial HS. A conference in the 200 IM and a sectional champion in the 200 free, he was an all-conference selection in swimming, track and field and cross country. He captained the swimming team in his final season and the cross country squad as both a junior and senior and earned team most valuable player accolades in both sports. Garcia-Canga earned a total of 18 varsity letters in her three sports. In cross country, he took home the Clutch Performer and the Most Accomplished Athlete Awards.

Mitch Johnson
Fr. * Free * Valencia, Calif. / Hart Senior HS
A four-year letter winner at Hart Senior HS, Johnson helped lead the team to four straight league titles. He was elected captain of the varsity team as a senior. Johnson swam for the Canyona Aquatics Club. He was a scholastic All-American in 2010.

Kevin Kreher
Fr. * Breast/Free * Akron, N.Y. / Clarence Senior HS
Kreher was a four-year letter winner and multiple time state finalist at Clarence Senior HS. He was an All-American in the 200 free relay and a school record holder in the 400 free relay and the 100 breast. Kreher served as team captain as a senior. He swam club for the Clarence Swim Club, setting records for the program at multiple age group levels. He was a 10-time Speedo eastern zone sectional finalist and a champion in the 200 free relay.

Victor Luo
Fr. * Breast/IM * Bridgewater, N.J. / Bridgewater-Raritan HS
Luo earned first-team all-state honors in the 200 IM, winning the event at the Meet of Champions as a senior at Bridgewater-Raritan HS. Luo was part of two state championship winning teams. He set county record in the 200 IM and had the second-fastest time in the state in the 100 breast. He swam club for the Somerset Valley YMCA.

Jack Pollack
Fr. * Free * Baltimore, Md. / Gilman School
Pollack is the holder of three school records at the Gilman School, including a pair of relay marks. A two-time scholastic All-American and a four-year letter winner, Pollack also swam for the North Baltimore Aquatic Club.

George Schnaars
Fr. * Free * Santa Margarita, Calif. / Tesoro HS
Schnaars was a league champion in the 500 free, helping Tesoro HS to a league team crown. He was also a four-year letter winner. While competing for the Mission Viejo Nadadores club team, Schnaars placed ninth at the U-18 Open Water 10K nationals. He was part of the 2011 junior national team that placed second overall.

Carl St. John
Fr. * Fly/IM * Bethesda, Md. / Georgetown Preparatory School
A four-year letter winner at Georgetown Preparatory School, St. John was an all-area and all-metro selection in the 200 IM in his final two seasons. St. John served as team captain as a senior and was part of two metro team championships and a runner-up squad. He won an individual title in the 200 IM in his final season. He was a club swimmer for the Curl-Burke Swim Club, helping the team to a national team title in 2011 and a junior national runner-up finish in 2012. St. John finished 19th at the NCSA junior nationals in the 200 fly.

Ryan Walker
Fr. * Free/Back * Southlake, Texas / Carroll Senior HS
A three-time high school All-American at Carroll Senior HS, Walker's team won a pair of state titles and finished as runner-up once. He was a four-time all-state, all-region and all-district selection. Walker was elected team captain twice and lettered all four varsity seasons. He most recently competed for the Dallas Mustangs club team. Walker was a two-year member of the water polo team, lettering twice and helping the squad to a pair of district titles and regional runner-up finishes.

Matt McCoy
Fr. * Dive * Midlothian, VA/Clover Hill High School
