ITHACA, N.Y. – The Big Red men had a very strong day at the Kane Invitational on Saturday in Barton Hall, producing 14 IC4A qualifiers and nine event wins. Once again, the story of the meet begins with fireworks in the weight throw as the dynamic trio of national caliber Cornell weight men set an excellent tone in the meet's first event.
Sophomore
Rudy Winkler moved to #4 all-time at Cornell in the weight throw with a heave of 65-4 to place first; senior co-captain
Stephen Mozia was second at 64-5 (good for #7 all-time) and junior
Bryan Rhodes (the current school record holder) also threw huge, reaching 63-3 1/2 as they each easily eclipsed the IC4A standard. Mozia then came back to win the shot put in a seasonal best of 63-2 1/4, currently the tenth best performance in the NCAA thus far.
There were also several outstanding showings in the vertical jumping events. Sophomore
