To get to overtime, the Big Red had to overcome a shaky start as Oakland jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first 2:34 of the contest and stretched its advantage to double-digits (20-10) with just over two minutes to go in the first period.
Cornell slowly worked its way back into the contest, using an layup from
Jessica Willerson to get within three points at the half before erasing the visitors advantage altogether with a layup from Widman making it a 39-38 Big Red lead midway through the third quarter. The go-ahead bucket was part of an 8-1 run that featured a layup from Ehland and six consecutive points from Widmann.
The Big Red took its largest lead of the game (67-62) on a pair of made free throws from Ehland with 1:52 remaining in the contest, but Graves took over and scored Oakland's final six points in regulation to knot the game at 68-68.
Overtime was a back-and-forth battle, with two ties and two lead changes before the Grizzlies went up 79-75 on a free throw from Graves with :12 on the clock. Widmann hit a jumper with three ticks remaining, but Cornell couldn't force a turnover on the final possession and Oakland took the 79-77 victory.
