PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Big Red took the diamond against Ivy-League foe Brown for game one of their three-game series. The Bears earned a 4-2 victory over Cornell on Friday evening from Providence.
Moe Kastens tripled to right field to get Brown out to a 1-0 lead, with Lily Berlinger finding the plate for the Bears. Julia Gubner registered a hit in the second-inning which sent Liv Kam and Dara English around the bases to increase the count to 3-0.
Madalyn Covelli entered the game midway through the bottom of the second for
Gabrielle Maday. Berlinger sacrificed herself right away on a bunt which drew Nicole Kim in for the fourth Brown run of the evening, closing the stanza with a 4-0 advantage.
Ella Harrod sacrificed her at-bat for a
Celia Macari run in the fourth, followed by a
Maicie Levitt homer in the fifth, to trim the Brown lead to 4-2. Both squads would go the rest of the way without finding the plate. Alexis Guevara played the entire game on the mound for Brown finishing the game out with five strikeouts to aid the Bears in a 4-2 victory.Â

The Big Red and the Bears will conclude the Ivy-League series tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. with a doubleheader from Brown Softball Field. Game action will be broadcasted on ESPN+.
