PRINCETON, N.J. – Cornell took the first set from Yale in the semifinal match of the Ivy League tournament before Yale rallied back to with the match 3-1 to advance to the championship match against Princeton.
The Big Red finished the season with a 14-10 record, the best season since 2019 and earned their first trip to the Ivy League Tournament. Cornell also earned Coaching Staff of the Year, Rookie of the Year honors for Mackenzie Parsons, two First Team All Ivy nominations (Eliza Konvicka and Parsons) and an All Ivy Honorable Mention for Doga Ozalp.
Tonight, the Big Red totaled 45 kills in the four sets. Konvicka and Camryn Carlo each ended with double-digit kills. Konvicka totaled 13 kills, seven digs, two blocks and an ace. Carlo had 10 kills on a .529 hitting percentage, two blocks and two digs.
Sarita Pomar and Jackie Baker had double-digit digs with 15 and 10 respectivly.
First Set (25-21 Cornell)
Cornell started on a 7-1 run to open the match and send Yale into an early timeout.
The Big Red lengthened their lead to 11-6 with a three-point run the included a Parsons kill and solo block followed by an ace from Baker.
Yale responded with a 6-1 run to close the gap to 18-16 as Cornell called their first timeout.
A Konvicka kill finished out the set as the Big Red scored the final four points to take it 25-21.
Second Set (17-25 Yale)
The two teams stayed knotted up for the first 10 points of the second set till a joust at the net won by Parsons put the Big Red up by one 6-5.
The Bulldogs then scored six consecutive points to take the lead 7-11.
Parsons added two kills to bring the score within three (15-18) sending Yale into a timeout.
Yale came out of the stoppage with three straight points to send Cornell into a timeout at 15-21.
Cornell added two more points before Yale tied up the match 1-1.
Third Set (20-25 Yale)
Yale started the third set with an early 14-6 lead.
Konvicka added two back-to-back kills in efforts to close the gap.
The Big Red bring it within four with help from a Sione kill and a block from Doga Ozalp/Parsons.
Ozalp dumps one over the net to bring the score to 16-21.
Cornell used Yale errors and a block from Carlo/Konvicka to make a late run before Yale took the set 20-25.
Fourth Set (21-25)
Cornell started the final set with a 7-3 lead.
The two teams then traded points evenly till 12-8.
After a kill from Carlo, Yale went on a 4-1 run, bringing the set within one point, 16-15.
Kills from Carlo and Parsons stretched the lead to two at 18-16.
Yale then took the lead with a 5-0 run to go up 18-21.
Megan Gaffigan, Sione, and Carlo added the last three points of the season as Yale took the match 21-25.

Sarita Pomar dug up 15 balls marking her seventh consecutive game with double-digit digs.
Eliza Konvicka surpassed Alex Gross '90 to take the seventh slot in total career points (1064.0).
Camryn Carlo surpassed Jada Stackhouse 19" to take seventh in career-hitting percentage (.302).
