LEWISBURG, Pa. – Cornell men's track and field sent a large contingent to this weekend's Bucknell Bison Spring Classic and the George Mason Spring Invitational. The squad had a fine showing, as it combined to record 14 IC4A qualifiers, a school record in the hammer throw, a Bucknell facility record in the discus, and an all-time top-ten school performance in the 1500.
Throws: Sophomore
Rudy Winkler broke the school record for the hammer throw twice in an phenomenal showing. He first shattered the program's top mark on his fifth throw, launching a 212' 11" (64.90m, IC4A). The record would only last until his next throw, as he bettered the mark on his sixth throw (214' 3", 65.31m). Senior captain
Stephen Mozia placed fifth (186' 1", 56.71m, IC4A) and sophomore
Martin Murillo threw 164' 10" (50.25m).
In the discus,
Stephen Mozia broke his own facility record, winning by over 20 feet in 191' 9" (58.45m, IC4A). Freshman
Jacob Shaffer was 11th (151 '8", 46.22m) and classmate
Andrew Robinson was 14th (146 '3", 44.59m). Mozia placed 12th in the shot (50'10", 15.49m) and freshman
Andrew Robinson was 15th (48'11", 14.91m). Freshman
Mark Zavrl threw the javelin 166'7" (50.77m) with sophomore
Vince Harnett right behind at 158'3" (48.24m).
Sprints/Hurdles: At 100 meters, freshman
Brailin Paulino was ninth in 11.16, with classmate
Ryan Weigel 12th at 11.25, junior
Ryan Hynes 17th in 11.30, and freshman
Blake Smith in 11.48. In the 4x100 relay, the quartet of Hynes, junior
Larry Gibson, freshman
Michael Smith, and Paulino placed eighth in 42.55. In the 200, Paulino was sixth in 22.15 as
Larry Gibson ran 22.91, Weigel ran 22.97, and
Blake Smith ran 23.94. Sophomore
Tobenna Attah led the 400 group in ninth place (48.86), just ahead of
Michael Smith (11th, 48.93), sophomore
Will Gibson (49.82), and freshman
Lionel Chambers (50.48). Alumnus
Bruno Hortelano-Roig won the event at 47.36.

Rachid Zidani placed eighth in the 100 hurdles in 15.29, before returning to place ninth in the 400 hurdles in 55.29. Sophomore
Wynn Curtis ran 57.49. In the 4x400 relay, the group of Attah (50.0), senior
Max Hairston (49.1), senior
Francisco Olloqui (48.7), and
Michael Smith (48.5) placed fourth in 3:16.49 (IC4A). A second squad of

Will Gibson (48.9), Sherwood (49.5), Chambers (50.6) were seventh in 3:21.25.
Distance: In the 800 meters, senior
Sebastian Roemer led the charge in 1:54.97, ahead of sophomore
Mark Tedder (1:57.18), freshman
Ross Clarke (1:59.58), and senior
Kieran Kinnare (1:59.81). The 4x800 relay squad placed fifth (7:51.53) behind legs from
Phelan McCormack (1:55.6), Roemer (1:57.4), Clarke (2:02.8), and Tedder (1:55.6).
Ben Rainero roared to #5 all-time in school history in the 1500, placing fifth overall in 3:45.81 (IC4A). Seniors
Sam Belcher and
Phelan McCormack ran 3:52.98 and 3:55.33, respectively, while junior Sam Baxter ran 3:57.96 in just his 2nd race of 2015.
In the steeplechase, freshman
Josh Dyrland ran 9:47.13. In the 5000, freshman Dom DeLuca placed fourth in 14:29.58 (IC4A), junior
Connor Herr ran 14:35.30 for eighth, and freshman
Will Ronchetti ran 15:14.92. Sophomore
David Taylor was sixth in the 10,000 with a big personal record of 30:12.16 (IC4A), while sophomore
Zack Israel earned his first IC4A-qualifer in 30:35.12 (16th place). Junior Ty Kawalec also bettered the IC4A standard in 31:04.70.
Jumps: Senior
Keith Rayburn and sophomore
Grant Sisserson went one-two in the pole vault, with both clearing 16' 2 ¾" (4.95m, IC4A), as senior Steven Pawlak was 11th in 14'9" (4.50m). Freshman
Alex Rodriguez was 10th in the long jump (21' 10 ¼", 6.66m) and junior
Logan Kreglow marked 20' ½" (6.11m). Sophomore
Joe Mankovecky placed ninth in the high jump (6' 2 ¼", 1.89m) with Kreglow at the same height for 13th place. Sophomore
John Enkler was eighth overall in the triple jump (46' 7 ¼", 14.20m), freshman
Oseoba Airewele was 14th (44' 7", 13.59), and
Sean Waterton marked (41' 5", 12.62m).
